Wiki

The next short project consists of the creation of a wiki.

Project Instructions:

Create your own wiki using http: wikispaces .com. This is a free platform in which you may obtain a free upgrade when using it for EDUCATION PURPOSES only.

This mini project should have the following aspects.

  1. Create your own wiki using http://www.wikispaces.com, and send wiki invites to your fellow classmates as well as myself.
  2. Set up your wiki for the grade level and topic of your choice based on the MEP program.
  3. Use grammatically correct English throughout.
  4. Add 1 widget, such as a course calendar with events inserted in the calendar. Be sure the calendar is set for public and not private in the settings of the calendar itself.
  5. Add at least 2 pictures and/or logo which are appropriate for your grade level and topic.
  6. Create at least 4 links within the wiki.
  7. Create 1 original collaborative project as a base for students to work and comment on which is appropriate for the grade level and topic.
  8. Add at least one YouTube video widget which will be used to help support or extend the collaborative work students will be making within your wiki. The video should coincide with the level of your chosen group/grade and topic.
  9. The activity(ies) must be appropriate for the grade level, topic as well as the skills. Said activity(ies) is/are to be developed within a Blended Learning and CALL approach.
It is important to review the videos first, and it is extremely helpful to use the HELP visual instructions found within the Wiki platform when creating your wiki.
After our Round Table Discussion next week on what it means to be a "Connected Teacher and Learner", we will go over the basics of how to setup a wiki. Be sure to have in mind your topic and grade level you will be using as the base of the project.
The following is a sample wiki which is used in American (US) Literature: http://tamatha-rabb-educational-wiki.wikispaces.com/
