Webquest

The last project consists of the creation of a webquest and lesson plan. Good general discussions about webquests in education should be researched and read from the following websites. Many have sample webquests in order to give you ideas in the creation of your own.:

(1) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest

Project Instructions:
Create your own Webquest using either a wiki or Questgarden (http://webquest.org/index-create.php)--[Questgarden is free for 30 days and you can still access your webquest afterwards].

Each Webquest element (numbers 1 – 4) listed below are to be clear, complete, creative, and be based upon a MEP topic:
  1. Introduction and Task
  2. Process
    1. Original worksheets (of your own creation), guides &  instructions
    2. Internet resources such as hyperlinks to web pages as well as appropriate YouTube videos
  3. Evaluation & Teacher Page
  4. Conclusion and Credits
  5. Design the webquest so that it is appropriate for your grade level and topic.
  6. Webquest teaches Reading & Writing indirectly by means of researching information.
  7. Correct usage of the English Language
  8. 40 to 60 min. Lesson Plan---activities are explained within the lesson plan and filled out correctly using the lesson plan template posted on the course Facebook page. A hard copy is given when the project is presented. Be sure to state whether the lesson is meant for a public or semi-private institution.
  9. Lesson incorporate at least 3 CALL platforms in the lesson and is focused on a single MEP topic for a given group. (i.e. ppp, blog, voicethread, wiki, video)
  10. Lesson plan integrates all 5 skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing and culture).
  11. Lesson uses blended learning with original materials.
NOTE: This final work is incorporating the 10% Webquest and the 15% Final Lesson Project which will be graded as one element instead of two as 25%.

On November 6th, the class session will be focused on how to correctly fill-in the lesson plan template posted on the course Facebook page.

On November 13th, the Webquest presenting group will first explain what is a Webquest and how to use them in teaching and then will implement their lesson plan with the rest of the group being the students.
On November 20th, two to three groups will execute their Webquest lesson plans

Complete the 5% Forum on the course Facebook page between November 20th and Nov. 24th.
For the forum, relate what you have read, seen, and/or heard about one to two CALL platform(s) studied in the course (video, wiki, blog, etc.) with your own educational work/life. Note any perceived pros and cons in the use of the CALL platform(s). Also note what may be improved in the course in how it is constructed, implemented and its content. This forum should consist of a word count between 400 and 500 words. You are also to comment on at least one of your classmate’s forums on the FB page by Nov. 26th. The post/comment must be substantive, related to a CALL platform and/or the course review, and unique (just saying “I agree” is not enough).

And finally on November 27th, the final group or groups will implement their lesson.
Course grades will be given at the end of the period.
